Coil Binding, or spiral binding, is the best binding method for reading materials that must lay open and flat for easy reading. The coil consists of a continuous, spring-shaped piece of flexible plastic. Moreover, it is durable and crush-resistant, and is threaded through a series of die-cut holes on the binding edge of the book.  For example, it is similar to a spiral notebook.

The coil comes in many different colors, including clear, and almost any size to accomodate the thickness of the book. Most often, standard black coil is used so as not to stand out from the content of the book.  You can choose a complimentary color to go with your style.

Some of the benefits of spiral binding are:

  • Inexpensive
  • Book lays open flat
  • Durable
  • Versatile (can be used for a variety of documents)
  • Single pages can be removed if needed.

Overall, spiral binding is a good option for documents that need to be frequently opened and closed, lay flat, and it is a relatively inexpensive and durable binding method.

Some common uses for Coil Bound Books are:

  • Cookbooks
  • Owner’s Manuals
  • Reference Materials
  • Guide Books
  • Map Books
  • Diagram Books
  • Devotional Diaries
  • Goal Books
  • Planners
